The Spartans spent the weekend in Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.

It was an amazing meet for senior captain, Gabby Sloezen who took part in breaking three school records. On Friday, she ran the open 400 meter dash running a time of 58.12 seconds placing a very impressive 48th out of 141, breaking a school record she previously held. Later that day her 4×400 meter relay team of her, Tiresha Theodore, Amber Lubaszka and Tiana Kirkland ran a combined time of 4:03.43, breaking another school record. Her individual split in that relay was 57.6 seconds. The next day, Sloezen ran the 400 meter leg in Distance Medley Relay along with Kristen Borriello, Patricia Nersten and Meaghan Ventarola running a combined time of 12:24.3, another school record. In this relay, her 400 split was 57.5 seconds; getting faster each time she ran it. Sloezen is currently ranked 4th in the region in the 400 meter dash and 2nd in the 800 meter run.

The triple jump school record was also broken last weekend by freshman Molly Conner, jumping 10.47 meters (34 feet, 4.25 inches). Conner is off to a great start this season having already broken three records in the 55 meter hurdles, the 60 meter hurdles and now the triple. Other great performances were by Winslow Dorsainvil who continues his great success in the 60 meter dash. Dorsainvil placed 2nd overall out of 95 runners on Saturday with a time of 6.85. Saint-Jacob Diodonet placed 13th in both the 400 and 200 meter dash with times of 48.24 and 21.7, respectively. Patricia Nersten had a great race in the 800 meter, running a time of 2:21.93 which was a five second personal record for her. She placed 74th out of 138.

The Spartans’ next meet is at the Armory in NYC on February 5-6. Then travel to LongIsland for the Molloy College on February 12-13. The Spartans are preparing for their conference championship which is in Staten Island on February 26th.
