The men’s tennis team comes back from their spring break trip losing four out of five games, but that didn’t stop them from giving Bloomfield College a tough match.
In the doubles, the Spartan’s Roger Almato and Andreu Ferragut-Lluch took care of their #2 game winning 8-0, and soon after, Bloomfield’s #3 doubles team beat STAC’s #3 by a score of 8-1. The #1 doubles game, which featured STAC’s Aaron Stahl and Javier Munoz and Bloomfield’s Nikola Seles and Thulani Hove, was a dramatic one. The match took over an hour with the score going back and forth, but STAC came out the winner by a score of 8-6.
In the singles, senior Chris Jonas took care of his opponent winning 6-0, 6-3. Aaron Stahl won the #1 game against Ville Heikkilae, which puts him at an unbelievable 10-1 this season including the fall. Gilberto Lantigua lost the #6 match to Marin Jonjic 6-2 and 6-4, and Almato lost the #4 match in the tiebreak after a very hard-fought two sets of play. That put the score at 4-3 in favor of the Spartans, so the next two singles matches were important. Munoz and Ferragut-Lluch handled the pressure and won both their matches; Munoz 6-2, 6-2 and Ferragut-Lluch in the tiebreak.
The Spartans will host Roberts Wesleyan on Friday, April 1st and Daemen on April 2nd.
