The St. Thomas Aquinas men’s tennis team completes their perfect fall season after beating Kutztown 9-0 on Friday afternoon.

STAC won both the double matches and won the third on a forfeit because Kutztown only had five players. Sophomore Aaron Stahl and junior Javier Munoz won their match 8-5 and sophomore Andreu Ferragut-Lluch and freshman James Bruce won their match 8-3.

Stahl, Munoz, Ferragut-Lluch, Bruce and Roger Almato all won their single matches to give the Spartans the sweep, the 9-0 victory and the perfect 5-0 season. Stahl, who played number one that day, had this to say about the season: “Given the strength of the opponents we played, finishing the season with no loses is an accomplishment and should give us great confidence to carry on like this in spring and in conference play.”

Stahl beat Kutztown sophomore Joan Oliver Perez 6-3 and 6-4 after losing to him last fall. Stahl was a second-team all conference player last spring along with junior captain, Javier Munoz.

The Spartans are excited for their spring 2016 season. With new freshmen Bruce, Almato and Hugo Preussler, the men’s team looks to make the conference tournament this year.
