Media Review: Topping The Charts

Samantha Rosenthal

This has been a HUGE month for new music. Justin Bieber, One Direction, and Adele have dropped new albums within the past few weeks and we have been listening to all their albums on repeat.

Justin Bieber’s “Purpose,” One Direction’s “Made in the A.M.” and Adele’s “25” have been dominating the charts and continue to keep climbing. You can’t turn on the radio without hearing “Sorry,” “Drag Me Down” or “Hello” at least five times each.  Fans rave that these have been the best albums that each artists has released and we have to agree with them.

Justin Bieber has had a pretty rough year, but things seem to be looking up for him. After constantly disappointing fans with rude comments and even worse behavior – Bieber decided that this is the year for change. After splitting with now-ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, Bieber was spiraling out of control. Thankfully, in more recent news, Bieber is back on top. He is no longer getting booed at award shows,  he’s actually willingly meeting fans and even smiling in the photos, his peeing-in-the-mop-bucket days are over and he seems to be getting his act together. He’s issued numerous apologies on his behavior and is showing the side of him that fans have been missing for years. His new music is his best yet and he is ending this year on the best note that he has had in awhile.

One act that is sadly ending this year on a lesser note is One Direction. Although their latest album is some of their best work, the band has announced a split or what they call a “break.” A few months after the departure of Zayn Malik, One Direction has officially called it quits. The guys say it’s only going to be a two year break but we all know the break is never really going to be over. Each guy has stated what they want to do in the future and it seems like they will stay in the business but pursue different paths. The guys will keep their loyal fanbase though, so we are sure that this is not the last you will see of Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis (who is actually expecting!).  We wish these guys the best of luck.

Adele is BACK!!!!! Finally after years of Adele withdrawals, she dropped what I think is the best album of the year. “25” is full of songs that anyone can relate to. Heartbreak, love, friendship, you name and she has a song for it. Adele has been doing promotions for her new album and stated that she is happier than ever. She told Z100 that she’s extremely happy with how she looks, her voice, and her incredible family. She has been spending her time off getting throat surgery, taking care of her three-year-old son, and enjoying the married life. As much as Adele deserved some time off after spreading her incredible talent around the world, we couldn’t be happier that she is back blessing our ears with her sweet, sweet voice!
